Furtu Barnoota: Unlocking the Doors to Education

BOOKS AND SUPPLIES FOR CLASSROOMS & LIBRARIES —

We are proud to announce the success of our project, Furtu Barnoota, which translates to “Keys to Education” in Afaan Oromo. This project was made possible through our partnership with Books For Africa (BFA) and the Jara & Jiru Foundation (JJ Fund). Our collaboration enabled us to equip 20 schools with over 29,000 educational books, laptops, projectors, and printers.

None of this would have been possible without the support of our sponsors, who included both partnership organizations and individual donors. These sponsors not only made it possible to deliver the resources, but also to connect with the school communities and work on projects and programs that support students in their education. Some even went above and beyond by sponsoring multiple schools and providing additional resources such as laptops and printers.

The project had two initiatives: Plan A and Plan B. The schools that participated in Plan A, which aimed to deliver books, are now receiving ongoing support through Plan B. This support ensures that the students continue to have access to the resources they need to succeed in their education. However, schools not included in Plan B are not receiving ongoing support at this time.

At the heart of our project is the belief in the power of community. We believe that when we come together, we can make a difference in the lives of students and their communities. Through Furtu Barnoota, we are unlocking the doors to education and providing students with the tools they need to succeed.”
